I am sorry for the delayed reply. But didn't get a chance to go through the forum for quiet some time.

I didn't get a job, but i am doing my PhD now. The market was really bad and i was getting very depressed.

Thats true, that most of the people here give preference to recommendations. I believe that for people like us, who do not know anyone in hardware companies, it is difficult to get a job.

Did u have any luck on getting a summer intern?

I would be happy to help you. But be careful with that consultant. I joined that consultancy, but couldn't get any calls.(might be because of the recession). I am doing PhD right now.

It was a difficult time for me under that consultant. So, i don't want others to face the same.

But i dont think that i can go for that option as i am not so much interested.

I am sorry to hear that you guys are struggling.

I think the freshers having difficult time to find internships / jobs. As someone mentioned earlier it may be bit easy to find position with reference. [But I dont beleive in this for 100%.I think only 5-10% people get jobs like this all others get job without any reference]

Do not loose your hope! do not think that you made mistake in the past! Some time it might take little time to find the right job, especially during last year.

In my new website I will make new a section and I will try bring all the people whom I know (and their links) in VLSI industry. It will help freshers to find some reference in their location.

I think the market is really far better than last year. I wish good luck!!
